Congratulations to these competitors in recent Newbreed Ultimate Challenge tournament in Cincinnati Jacob Ables Seth Clark Nick Munoz Matthew Phillips JR Reynolds David Sigthorsson Daniel Stipich Patrick Thacker Our TAMA BJJ class (Brazilian jiu-jitsu) has been in transition for the last 25 years. First, it was introduced into our Aikijutsu class with the traditional jiujitsu techniques from both Kenpo Ryu Jujitsu, Kodenkan Judo and DanzanRyu Jujitsu that are found both in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Traditional jiu-jitsu techniques. Matt Furey was also our guest instructor sharing his unique techniques. Taningco had briefly studied with Ed Mori from Brazil when Taningco was stationed training the USAirForce Special Forces in 2004, and Luis Palhares from Brazil was also our guest instructors at TAMA for many years teaching his unique brand of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. Sensei Shawn Hammonds also studied under Palhares and Lloyd Irvin who is currently our technical advisor in Jiujitsu and often travel to teach at TAMA BJJ. There are many things that play into just working out in BJJ that contribute to making Jiujitsu such an awesome martial art sport and combative art.
What stands the most like other martial arts classes at TAMA is the community; the practitioners, the people. Creating friends and literary, one’s life can change for the better because of discipline, respect for each other, the camaraderie, loyalty and above all what has given to many students is self-confidence about themselves. Attending Sensei Shawn Hammonds seminar is enlighting, and refreshing. He has always had some unique way of doing things that have been proven well on the mat and in competition. His outlook on the mat is quite unmatched and he is a proven himself to be “World Champion” and among the best of the best.
