The competition team of TAMA Karate led by Grandmaster Taningco participated in one of the largest tournaments in Midwest. There were competitors from all over Midwest from Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and as far as Kentucky and Tennessee. Ohio state was well represented. There were over 200 competitors for the kids karate tournament. It was a tough competition for all of the competitors.
The awards were none other than amazing UKKC Ring Championship given to the top three competitors in each division. From continuous sparring, point sparring, weapons form and form divisions were given awards. Children of school age from 4 on up to 18 years old competed in all divisions. There were 8 rings running at the same time. The UKKC ran the event smoothly and our divisions were done by 3:30 pm. Competitions started very early with continuous sparring started at 9 am.
Team Tama was well represented in the Dayton Ultimate Kids Karate Championship. There were a total of 10 kids that represented TAMA Martial Arts. Christian Escobar, Riley Lombard, Aram Espinosa, Uridia Hernandez, Lizeth Aguayza, Kathleen Hernandez, Katie Cardulla, Ty Weltz, Seth Brown, and Jasper Weltz. The team TAMA brought in 3 First place, 4 Second place, 6 Third place. The kids Karate team TAMA did well stepping out of MVTA karate tournament circuit to try other kids karate championship tournament competitions around Ohio and the immediate area.
GM Taningco has been training the TAMA Superkids competition team since the beginning of this year. There are 14 members on the team altogether who had signed up for the 2016 competition team. Training them weekly and preparing them for several more tournaments before the end os the year. Taningco is very proud of these kids having the courage to stand in front of the crowd competing and ever challenging their fear and nervousness performing. It is a brand new team that did not have much experience in martial arts competitions except for Riley Lombard, Jake Pierce, and Tony Pierce. All the competition Team TAMA members have done very well with some surprises in each one of them. Most of these TAMA Superkidz team members are very shy. They are finally stepping out of their comfortable shell. These kids really shined today at the Dayton’s Ultimate Kids Karate Championship and most tournaments. They are champions even without the awards and the experience of the martial arts tournament because they believe in themselves as Grandmaster Taningco believes in them. Taningco empowers all the kids martial arts classes and many have grown to be successful in life and contributing well to the society.
